Honoring Ronald L. Everett
RLE Go Fore It! Foundation was created in honor of my father, Ronald Lee Everett.
He wasn’t famous. He wasn’t wealthy. He was an NYC bus driver.
But he was present.
My father showed me what leadership looks like long before I understood the word. When my Cub Scout pack needed a leader, he stepped up. When I wanted to play sports, he coached. When I needed discipline, he provided it. When I needed encouragement, he gave that too.
He drove thousands of miles to games in his yellow Cadillac. He stood in garages spotting weight sets. He carried a camera everywhere. He didn’t just tell me I could succeed — he showed up so I would believe it.
That’s mentorship.
That’s leadership.
That’s love in action.
When he passed in 2014, I realized something: not every child grows up with someone who shows up like that. And presence — consistent, invested presence — changes the trajectory of a young person’s life.
This foundation exists to extend the kind of leadership and mentorship I received. To create opportunities. To build confidence. To remind young people that someone believes in them enough to show up.
Because leadership isn’t about titles.
It’s about impact.
And my father’s impact lives on through this work.
